First working list of Coldingham WW1 servicemen and women online

I’ve previously announced a WW1 project associated with the Coldingham one-place study.

The working list of servicemen and women traced has now been put online. This includes names from the Rolls of Honour for Coldingham parish, which include men who survived as well as those who died. There are nearly 300 names in the list, although there are still some duplicate entries to be sorted out.

To see the list, and please remember that it will be updated, see here.

  1. Dear Viv,Thank you so much for the link to that list. My grandfather, Andrew Cowe Wilson, Rock House, St Abbs, is on it. I hadn’t looked up to see if there were any of his records online for several years but now I have been able to download his ‘signing up’ form for the Royal Naval Reserves in 1916 from the National Archives. It doesn’t really tell me any more than I knew already but means that I am no longer guessing that this is what he did. His brother, William, is also on it although I haven’t bought his record. Thanks again,Rae Walker

    1. Oh that’s a lovely story. Thank you for sharing. In the near future I plan to have another look at the naval records, and pull out more Coldingham names that way. I’ll add details of these to the list then re your grandfather and his brother.
